Think 20 Summit: Building New Global Relationships
— New Dynamics, New Vitality, New Prospects

Helga Zepp-LaRouche.

Helga Zepp-LaRouche, Founder of the international Schiller Institutes and President of The Schiller Institute in Germany, addressed the "Think 20 (T20) Summit", international conference, held in Beijing, China, in the run up to the upcoming G-20 Summit of nations. About 500 think tank experts, politicians and representatives of international organizations from 25 countries worldwide gathered in Beijing to contribute their wisdom to the G20 Hangzhou Summit on building new global relationships.

Three leading Chinese institutions co-sponsored a Think-20 Forum July 29-30, 2016 in Beijing, which brought together 500 scholars from 25 countries, on the theme of “Building new global relations-new dynamics, new vitality and new prospects.” The purpose of the Forum was to provide ideas and suggestions on policymaking to the heads of state and government of the G20, who will be meeting this year in China on Sept. 4-5.

Helga Zepp-LaRouche, Founder of the international Schiller Institutes and President of The Schiller Institute in Germany, was featured as a speaker on Panel I, “Global Governance: System Improving and Capacity Building.” She pointed out that whereas the system of transatlantic monetarist finance was faced with near-term total collapse, the path to the future, including for the West, lies in orienting toward, and cooperation with, China’s New Silk Road strategy, a concept which she and her husband Lyndon LaRouche have actively developed for decades.

William Jones.

William Jones, the Washington bureau chief of EIR, was a speaker on Panel IV, dedicated to issues of North-South and South-South Cooperation. He was also the only foreign participant interviewed in a preliminary video clip of the English-language state television channel CCTV on July 29. Jones said that the world needs several trillion dollars worth of investment in infrastructure, which the Chinese leadership has understood, and is doing with the Belt and Road. “Europeans and the US should learn from China in this respect. Whether that will happen at this G20 is still not clear, since Europe and the US are still thinking in the old way. They will put up resistance. But because of crisis . . . they will change. Maybe this year. Maybe next year. In the long run, the development view will occur. . . .

The presence of the EIR representative was covered prominently by China Daily, the country’s largest English-language newspaper, with a lead photo accompanying an article on the T20 event headlined “Policy Gurus Gather To Seek World Solutions.” The photo ran with the caption: “Cai Fang, vice-president of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and William Jones, Washington Bureau chief of the Executive Intelligence Review, talk at the T20 Summit in Beijing, July 29, 2016.”

The three Chinese thinktanks sponsoring the event were the Institute of World Economics and Politics at CASS, the Shanghai Institute for International Studies, and the Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies at Renmin University of China. The Chongyang Institute is a co-publisher of the Chinese-language version of EIR’s groundbreaking special report, “The New Silk Road Becomes the World Land-Bridge.”
