The Schiller Institute is pleased to announce that its Saturday, December 10th meeting will feature as a special guest Dr. Patrick Ho, head of the China Energy Fund Committee and former Secretary for Home Affairs of the Government of Hong Kong. Schiller Institute founder and chairwoman, Helga Zepp-LaRouche, will also participate through video conference.

The combination of recent shocks delivered to the dead trans-Atlantic "money system"--the Brexit vote, the defeat of Hillary Clinton, and the "No" vote in the Italian referendum--are harbingers of an even greater impending instability. Instead of these useful political shocks, which reject the worst but which in themselves propose no remedy, a "prepared shock"--a sudden, total, surprising reversal of direction toward a real solution, and away from dependency upon the failed methods of the past--can be accomplished. The World Land-Bridge policy of Lyndon LaRouche and Helga Zepp-LaRouche is simultaneously an endorsement of and an improvement upon the "One Belt One Road" policy so brilliantly advanced by the Chinese government. An adoption of this World Land-Bridge policy by the United States, or by any trans-Atlantic government, while appearing unlikely at the moment, is also the only alternative to the hell of economic ruin and catastrophic warfare that otherwise awaits us.

In a symposium held in Washington on November 30, the "Belt And Road Forum," Dr. Ho offered suggestions, including to the incoming United States Presidential administration, as to how one might pursue the integration of the United States into the economic and cultural policy that has swept the world (minus America and Europe) into a new era of optimism and physical productivity. Dr. Ho proposed five points, which included using the One Belt One Road (OBOR) Policy as the new economic platform, or "jumping-off point" for establishing a bond of trust between the United States and China; realigning U.S/Asia trade agreements to conform with the intent of OBOR; promoting the use of the international development banks of the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa) system to overhaul world infrastructure, and catalyze a sudden marked upshift in the skill levels of the world population; securing the OBOR militarily and culturally; and obtaining the cooperation and participation of international institutions in the establishment of an international OBOR system.

What the United States will do in the coming weeks of the Presidential transition is up to us, its citizens. The adoption of a "new Apollo Project" by the United States, combining the initiatives of Franklin Delano Roosevelt's New Deal with the technological successes of JFK's "Moon shot," will require that Americans "think like Einstein" and "fight like Martin Luther King."  Those that would contend that the United States "has no business following behind China" should consider that even Dr. Henry Kissinger has recently asserted that the Chinese OBOR policy is extremely important to the world, and that the United States should consider participating in it. Schiller Institute founder Helga Zepp-LaRouche has insisted that the United States, with its obvious need to establish an entirely new economic platform, has a distinct and leading role to play, not as "the world's only superpower," but as primus inter pares--"first among equals."

The "new Apollo Project" orientation, starting with a re-invigorated international space program, jointly led by the United States, Russia, China, India and others, is the key. Space is to the 21st century what manufactures were to the time of America's first Treasury Secretary, Alexander Hamilton. The use of this "science driver" to restructure all of world and American infrastructure in the image of a new "Near Earth/Moon" economic platform, including mining helium-3 from the Moon as a power source for thermonuclear fusion-generated electricity on Earth, is the collaboration that can end war on the planet permanently. Ending hunger and poverty in the world, as the Chinese intend to do in their nation by the year 2020, can be done throughout the world as well.

The Manhattan Project and Schiller Institute must deliver a prepared shock to the United States over the next 40 days of the Presidential transition. Glass-Steagall's re-enactment, a new credit system, and the move toward a "New Frontier" of science, at the boundaries of human knowledge stretched by the recent revelations about space, will re-make our mining, manufacturing, agriculture and scientific research faster than any of us realize now. This is the future of the United States, this is the world now within our grasp, should we choose to listen to and learn from the success of China's One Belt One Road perspective.
